The Colonial 2 Project is currently under construction and consists of the occupied rehabilitation of a 76 Unit affordable housing building. This renovation is being completed in four stacks, including removing the façade and all interior partitions except for corridor walls, stair towers, and elevator shaft. This renovation project focuses heavily on following green building practices in a tight partnership with NYSERDA. The project’s design focused on net zero energy consumption by utilizing heat pumps for heating purposes and solar to offset electrical usage. Once completed, this project will be the first high-efficiency green affordable housing project in New York State. Currently, 2 of the four stacks have been completed and re-occupied by the tenants, with the 3rd stack underway. When finished, all apartments and common spaces will be fully renovated.
